Statistics
Eighty-nine percent of mothers that come to the center complete their births here. Eleven percent have been transferred to the hospital for physician care. Of the more than 2550 admissions since 1993, only five percent have resulted in Cesearean birth. Only three percent of newborns have had to go to the hospital for admission to the special care nursery.
Area hospitals report greater than 50 percent Cesearean rates and over 90 percent epidural rates. Compare this to 90 percent of Birth and Women’s Center mothers who achieve their goals of having unmedicated and uncomplicated births.
