PhilosophyOur top priority is to provide you with a supportive and safe environment to have your baby without medical intervention or drugs. While supporting you in this choice, we also provide a back-up system and interface during labor that could provide quick medical care if hospitalization becomes necessary. The physicians who work with us are unique and sympathetic to your desires. They try to understand your choices and support the natural philosophy as much as possible in dealing with medical complications. We hold the birth of your baby as the most important day of your life. This day's events will be remembered and talked about for many years to come. We want you to have the utmost sense of pride and accomplishment as you share your story. About Nurse-Midwifery Nurse-midwifery focuses on the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the family. We treat childbirth as a family-centered event. As nurse-midwives, we focus primarily on women of childbearing age, but our practice extends to preventative health care of all women. Comprehensive health maintenance is best achieved by an interdisciplinary team approach, involving physicians and other health care professionals. As a profession, nurse-midwifery assumes the responsibility for ensuring that Certified Nurse-Midwives have a sound base in theory and clinical practice, and that they demonstrate professional standards of practice in accordance with the American College of Nurse-Midwives. |
