    The month before your baby is due, both parents will attend an instructional class at Birth and Women’s Center. This class gives you helpful handouts, tips and important information to guide you on your journey through birth and the immediate postpartum period.
 
Prenatal Care

Prenatal Care

The nurse-midwives provide all prenatal care. Your visits, though seemingly routine, regularly assess the health of you and your baby and ensure that your pregnancy remains low-risk. You will not need to see a physician unless a medical concern develops. Sonograms are not required unless a situation needs closer observation.

Your initial visit will include:

  • Physical exam
  • Pap test
  • Medical history
  • Blood work
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Psycho-social support
  • Exercise education
  • Evaluation of your baby’s well-being
  • Review of transferred records (if applicable)
