Labor and Delivery

We view your birth as a family experience-equally important to the father and the mother. Having a baby is a highly personal event and we feel you should be able to share it with anyone you choose-siblings, loved ones, close friends or relatives.

During labor, your Certified Nurse-Midwife will evaluate your progress and be there to offer emotional and physical support. The goal of your CNM is to make your delivery natural and uncomplicated, and to involve your family and your primary support person to the greatest extent possible. We do not insist on specific birth locations or positions.

Birth is a highly individual experience and we encourage women to do whatever will make them most comfortable during labor and birth. You may walk around, relax in our Jacuzzi, sit in a chair, lie in bed, or do anything else that will help you maintain a maximum level of relaxation. Very few women choose to be in bed for labor.
