"My family and I were supremely blessed by all of you, and we now carry the treasure of a most sacred and beautiful birth."

Water Birth

Water birthWater is the cradle of life on earth. We began our lives, floating in the warm caress of water. Water has a soothing effect on us.

Warm water helps a laboring woman's muscles relax-which often speeds labor. When a woman is more relaxed and comfortable, the uterus functions optimally, reducing stress to both mother and baby. Water appears to lower a woman's stress and anxiety level, thereby lowering stress-related hormones which cross the placenta. Many women repeatedly report the wonderful pain relieving properties of water.

Birth and Women’s Center features a beautiful Jacuzzi tub for our clients. Some mothers choose a water birth, while others may use the tub for labor only. Women desiring a water birth are encouraged to discuss their wishes with a midwife. Nearly all women are able to deliver under water. Usually the only exclusions are the presence of meconium-stained aminotic fluid, very large babies, or abnormalities in the baby’s heartbeat.

We at Birth and Women’s Center are very skilled in water birth and invite women to consider this as an option for childbirth.
